You could also try experementing with whips, usually horses (especially ex-racers) are scared of whips. Try cracking them near him and then try cracking them while you are on him.
You could try a bit of polo, to get him used to objects swinging and flying around. It doesn’t have to be in a game, just by yourself.
Work with witches hats – balance them on his rump, to get him used to odd things.
And as said before, parelli is really good for this sort of thing.

easy answer to that is the 7 parllie games.
not only are they fun you get a bond with the horse adn over time you will be ab;e to do so much more than your friends and their horses.
